FP: WBC Hypocrisy

     This screenshot depicts a tweet from Margie Phelps of the infamous Westboro Baptist Church. She clearly states that Westboro will be picketing at Apple co-founder, Steve Jobs', funeral. Well he may have been a Godless sinner, but she sure as hell made a damn good phone for you to tweet on.

    If you haven't heard, The Westboro Baptist Church is widely considered an independent church known for it's extremest stance against homosexuality and many protest activities. (i.e. Picketing funerals of gay American war/military veterans and homosexual celebrities; which naturally attracts tons of media coverage). The Church is headed by Fred Phelps and mainly consists of his overwhelmingly large family. If you are currently on a school computer, you will come to find that the website linked above (The WBC link) will not allow you to enter the site because it is commonly considered a hate group. Which by the way, is "godhatesfags.com". 

    When I first heard of such intolerable crimes, I was enraged as wells as thousands of other Americans. As some of you may remember, a few years ago our very school put on a short play called "The Laramie Project". The production was about Matthew Shepard, a gay boy in Wisconsin murdered by ignorant hate crimes. The play was based on a true event in 1998. Undoubtedly, WBC was there to protest the funeral with signs say  "No tears for queers" and "Matthew Shepard in Hell".  How can anyone actively support, conduct, or participate in any of this and not see it as advocating violence? What gives them the right to do any of this?! Well specifically, the law. Their pickets and "preaching's" barely skim the constitutional rights of the First Amendment. If there was any way to put it, they pretty much personify our rights to freedom of speech and protest.

     To me, their message is old and it seems like they are running out of shit to do. I guess you can attack every religion beyond your own, but where is YOUR message? These crazy protesters really have nothing better to do but go to soldiers' funerals and antagonize the families with signs that say they deserved to die. If it's not that, it's screeching hate messages about Jews, abortion, divorce, comic con, Lady Gaga, etc. We got it the first time, Got hates America and we're all doomed. Well shit, throw me a water bottle cause I'll be burning up in Hell with the rest of the U.S. 

They hands down deserve to win the award for best misinterpretation of the Bible.

     Steve Jobs is the reason you are reading this on your Ipad, Mac, Iphone, or any personal computer. Rest in Peace.
